Abstract
Paraganglioma is a rare noeplasm arising from neural crest cells of the paraganglia. Although these tumors are the most common in the head and neck region, they may occur in diverse locations including mediastinum, retroperitoneum and visceral organs. Because there are no reliable histological criteria which distinguish benign from malignant paragangliomas, however, malignancy is defined by either local invasion, spread to regional lymph nodes, or metastasis to distant sites. Usually metastasis occurs in the liver, lung, lymph node and bones but the frequency is very low, and it is still rarer to present with multiple osseous metastasis. A case of nonfunctioning retroperitoneal paraganglioma which was detected for symptomatic osseous metastasis with subsequent multiple bone metastasis is reported.
